Write what is true, she said.

The hear & now, in this moment. Unfiltered, but perhaps with restraint.

Warm afternoon sun cuts through the air, the rays a sharpened knife of light that slice thick humidity. Dimples dance across my paper & books, filtered through tall fireweed blooms.

It’s the busiest summer of my life - filled with adventure & mountain biking and movement. Leaning heavily into my masculine, it’s a learning & a re-learning to nurture the softness of my feminine.

I ponder the purpose of life: the purpose of life is to live it, no? But so too is the purpose to surrender to these lessons - the ones we live over & over again, stick on repeat. Our work is to face the patterns and learn how to turn them around.

Stuck on repeat is frustrating, but if confronting these parts of ourself is our purpose…. Well, we have time.

The less time we spend, the faster we can move on - on to the next challenge requiring our attention, our nourishment.

So, re-learning to soften.

Embracing the feminine means to create space for stillness. To pause, to breathe, to incite quiet.

What are we running from when we can’t stop moving? We throw out excuses of not having the time, but time is all we have. The question is what we prioritize.

As the world moves faster, consciously choosing to Pause is the only way to take back power over our time, our energy. If we keep running and expect life to create an opening…. we will be running forever.

If we don’t create space for ourselves, other things will continue to pour in.

So what do we run from when we refuse to sit still?

Often, our intuition is stifled when we stay spinning on the treadmill. To have access to our gut feeling, we have to sit in stillness and in silence.

Often, our intuition holds most of the answers to our questions. But to open ourselves to those answers is confronting because sometimes… they aren’t what we want to hear, and require us to take big steps to change our lives.

It’s easier to fill life with distraction and movement and chaos than it is to accept that a relationship is no longer lighting you up.

But that is where growth happens.

As I have been getting grounded into my first long

As I have been getting grounded into my first long term housing in over a year, I have been refocusing my attention on my coaching practice.

Over a year ago, I wrote about how, as coaches, we hold the highest responsibility to raise standards for clients to meet their full potential.

Over and over again, I have stepped into the role of a coach beneath someone else’s business umbrella - supporting a belief that I need to be connected to another business to reach clients and expand my own practice.

Time and time again, this has led to disappointment. In most cases, because functional fitness and life coaching has become a trend more than a practice, standards are lowered to meet clients there they are at - keeping them comfortable instead of inviting them to grow.

Respect (for both the self and others), self discipline, integrity, and personal responsibility are missing.

Frustrating has been coming, and rather than silence it and push through, I see it as a confrontation for change. To stop limiting myself, and to believe in the power of my own independent coaching practice, where the non-negotiable values we work on are

Integrity
Self-Discipline
Authenticity
Personal Responsibility

A place where you can come when you want more for yourself, in a world that is convincing you that the lowest common denominator is enough.

What if you could have more? Be more? What if life could be better because you choose to show up differently, with your life as a living breathing protest to the status quo?

Something a little different (yes - clothes!).

Last summer, I had the opportunity to photograph an album cover for an artist in Ericeira, Portugal.

Alisa and I were staying in the same Airbnb complex, both of us foreigners, and both of us at a point of transition in our lives. She had just landed on the continent with her rescue dog, Ora, to build a new life in Europe.

When we’ve reconnected over the months that followed, much of our experiences have been aligned - feeling into new cultures, getting creative with how we put our work out into the world, and navigating the turbulence that comes with big change.

Though I don’t often photograph others, every time I do, I love the process. And the final outcome!

The in-moment process and the outcome always weave together into a multi-dimensional experience. The feedback I’ve received is that so much of the value is to be seen (naked or not), and to surrender into the present moment to playfully climb through the landscape of Mother Nature.

After such an experience reconnecting with the earth, and to the inner child, the final photos feel like a cherry on top of an experience that runs beyond skin deep.

This is where healing happens, where we learn to love ourselves. 💗

Happy Earth Day 🌱

Mmm, spring has sprung.
Spring IS sprung.
Spring is… springing? 😃

Love fills the air with the soundtrack of birdsong, seeking a mate, while pops of color splatter the lush green forests in bursts of flower blossoms.

The rebirth of the season coincides with the rebirth of my new life in a new part of the world, and for better and worse, is synchronised with coming out of a bad cold (or something).

The changing of seasons, dips in health, moving location - these things and many more offer ample opportunities to pause and look at where your life is and ask - is this the direction I want to be heading?

When we are caught in loops of activity and busyness and achievement, life risks becoming automated. It becomes “this is just the way life is.” We may get caught up without the awareness that perhaps we may want
#something different, something better.

As I’ve been in this paused limbo of illness, I’ve appreciated it. Life forced me to pause because I wasn’t doing so myself.

In this space of stillness, my heart grew fonder of a relationship that’s been growing the last few months.

The space of stillness also has brought the question of what I want to do with my time, energy, and life. The answer showed up very stubbornly as:

All I want to do is be naked and cook all the time. It isn’t new information but the message is screaming at me louder than ever - to listen and to remove the distractions that pull me from that focus.

And with that has come the question of rebirthing my presence online. How do I want to show up on social media, what is the intention behind what I share, and what level of vulnerability am I willing to expose?

I don’t have all the answers yet, but more clarity continues to reveal itself. What I do know is that holding standards of perfectionism aren’t moving mountains. A perfectly curated grid on my feed isn’t going to be what changes anyone’s life.

More questions than answers for now, but half the power is in asking the right questions.

Love. I am slowly headed in the direction of falli

Love. I am slowly headed in the direction of falling in love. It feels inevitable, and yet I question the timeline. The question is only a whisper, and when I tune in deeper to my heart, I feel it glowing - an overarching feeling of being loving.

But how do you know when you’re “in” love? There are so many different layers of love leading up to that full immersion.

I ask myself, how long do you have to know someone before you can love them? You know, the full depth rather than a facade that might be easy to hold for small pockets of time.

Still, my heart tells me it doesn’t matter. Love defies logic. It is not slave to mathematics, time, and calculation. When you know, you know.

All of those times in the past steeped in not knowing, in waiting for the “right” moment, well - they were simply not right, nor were they pure.

Now, there is no waiting. There is no push and pull. There is no comparison of anything that came before this. We are starting from a blank slate, where there is no concept of time outside the window of right here and right now.

Is it that there is no concept of time, or perhaps that our time together is not linear? Days feel like a lifetime, and there is an unspoken knowing nestled at the base of my heart. An unspoken understanding woven into the roots of my soul.

We stand on a bridge of trust that has been effortless to connect and maintain - as if we both began building across the river of life years ago, and somehow against an infinite number of odds, aligned our compass to the exact degrees to perfectly line up.

Love. Anything but linear.
